Blank
Also called: blank product
A blank is the undecorated product a design is printed onto: the plain mug, the unprinted shirt, the empty candle vessel. Quality of the blank sets the ceiling on the finished item no matter how good the artwork is.
Sellers focus on print quality and underweight the blank, which is backwards. A buyer holding the product judges the weight of the ceramic and the feel of the fabric first; the print is what made them click, but the blank is what makes them review.
Blank choice is also the main reason the same design costs very different amounts at different providers. When comparing base costs, check you are comparing the same tier of blank.
