360 Etsy Shop Name Ideas That Etsy Will Actually Accept

7/25/2026Printonic Team5 min read

Etsy shop names allow only letters and numbers, 4 to 20 characters, no spaces. Here are 360 ideas already in that format, plus how to choose one, check it, and change it later.

Almost every list of Etsy shop name ideas has the same problem: a good share of the names on it cannot be used on Etsy.

Etsy shop names allow letters and numbers only, 4 to 20 characters, with no spaces and no punctuation. So "Sage & Ember", "The Wildflower Co.", and "Bloom + Vine" are all unusable as written. You will only discover this at the point of registration, after you have already decided you love the name.

Every name below is already in Etsy's format. So is everything the name generator produces if you want more than a list.

The rules, before the ideas

  • 4 to 20 characters. Aim well under 20. Short names fit on packaging and survive being said aloud.
  • Letters and numbers only. No spaces, ampersands, hyphens, apostrophes, or accents.
  • Capitalization is yours. Etsy displays the name as you enter it, so WillowAndPine reads far better than willowandpine. Use it.
  • It is changeable, but treat it as important. Etsy permits name changes, with review and frequency limits once you are open. Check Etsy's current help pages for the specifics, since this is the sort of policy that shifts.

How to choose one that still works in two years

Do not name yourself after a single product. CandleCoCandles is a fine name right up to the moment you want to sell gift sets. The sellers who grow past one product almost always wish they had picked something roomier. Evocative beats literal, and your listings can carry the keywords.

Say it out loud, then spell it for someone. If a person cannot spell it back after hearing it once, you will lose word-of-mouth traffic forever. This single test kills most clever misspellings.

Check it in more than one place. Etsy will tell you if the name is taken at registration. Before that, search it on Google, check the matching social handles, and check the domain. A name that is free on Etsy and taken everywhere else will limit you the moment you want a site.

Check the trademark register if you are serious. A name that infringes an existing mark can cost you the shop, not just the name. Your national register is searchable for free, and it takes five minutes.

Avoid numbers as a workaround. Adding a 2 or an 87 because the name was taken signals that you were the second choice, and it makes the name harder to say aloud.

When the name you want is taken

Work through these in order before giving up on an idea you like:

  1. Add a structural word. Co, Studio, Goods, Supply, Works, House, Lane. WillowSeam becomes WillowSeamCo.
  2. Swap for a synonym. Ember for Flame, Trove for Bundle, Nest for House. The feel usually survives.
  3. Add a place or family name. Something with real meaning to you beats a random modifier, and it is far less likely to be taken.
  4. Reverse the order. PaperLane and LanePaper are both available surprisingly often when one is not.

What not to do: numbers, deliberate misspellings, or extra letters. All three read as a compromise and none of them are memorable.

Changing it later

Etsy does allow shop name changes, subject to review and to limits on frequency once your shop is open. So the first choice matters, but it is not permanent.

What is genuinely hard to change is everything downstream of it: printed packaging, inserts, social handles, and the recognition you have built with repeat buyers. That is the real reason to spend an hour on this rather than five minutes, and the real reason not to spend a week.
