For Teams

Send a gift from Slack

Connect your Slack workspace once, let each colleague link their own account with a single-use code, then type /printonic to open a short gift form. Printonic prices the request, sends a private preview back in Slack, and holds the gift in your approval tray until an owner or approver confirms the total.

Most recognition already happens in chat. This connection lets the gift happen there too: a colleague types /printonic, picks a gift and names a recipient, and never has to open Printonic or know what anything costs.

Nothing is paid for in chat. Every request is priced and then held for an owner or approver, using the same budgets, balance and approval settings your team already uses on the website.

  1. 1

    Dashboard > Integrations > Chat

    Connect the workspace

A team owner or approver opens Integrations, finds the Slack card under Chat and clicks Connect Slack. Slack asks a workspace admin to approve the install. When you return, the page reads Slack is connected. This is done once for the whole workspace.

If the card says Coming soon instead, the Slack app is not switched on for your account yet. Colleagues can still request and approve gifts from the dashboard in the meantime.
  2. 2

    Dashboard > Integrations > Chat

    Link your own Slack account

Every colleague who wants to send gifts clicks Generate my link code on the same card. Copy the line it shows and send it in Slack: /printonic link CODE. The Printonic app confirms the link in your private conversation with it.

A code works once and expires after ten minutes. Keep it private: it links a Slack identity to your Printonic account. Generate a new one whenever you need it.
  3. 3

    Slack

    Open the gift form

Type /printonic on its own. A Send a gift window opens with four fields: the gift (a picker grouped into Gifts and Gift sets), the recipient's name, the recipient's email, and an optional card message that is printed on a card inside the box. Click Preview gift.

You do not need to know a catalog slug. The typed form still works if you prefer it: /printonic gift catalog-slug | recipient@example.com | Recipient name | Your card message, with the message optional.
  4. 4

Slack, in your conversation with the Printonic app

    Check the priced preview

Printonic prices the request and sends you a private message with the gift, the recipient and the total, plus a Request approval button. This usually arrives within a minute.

The preview is private to you. Nothing has been charged at this point and nothing is on its way to the recipient.
  5. 5

    Slack or Dashboard > Approvals

Let an approver confirm the total

The request goes to your team's approval tray. An owner or approver confirms the actual total before payment, either from the approval card in Slack or from the dashboard. In Slack, /printonic approvals lists what is pending, and /printonic approval 123 opens one request.

Team budgets and spending controls apply exactly as they do on the website. A chat request cannot pay for itself.
  6. 6

    Email to the recipient

The recipient enters their own address

Once the gift is approved and paid, the recipient gets a private link. They confirm a shipping address and choose any product options you left open, such as size. Follow the gift under Chat requests or with /printonic status, which shows your five most recent sends.

The recipient never sees a price, and the packing slip carries no prices either.

Common questions

Who has to be a Printonic user?

Only the person who connects the workspace needs to be a team owner or approver. Colleagues send gifts from Slack after linking their account with a code, and never need to open the dashboard to make a request.

Can someone spend the team balance straight from Slack?

No. A chat request is priced and then held in the approval tray. An owner or approver confirms the real total before any payment, within the budgets your team already set.

What can I do besides sending a gift?

Type /printonic help to list every action, /printonic approvals to review pending requests, /printonic approval 123 for one of them, and /printonic status to see your five most recent sends.

What is not available from chat?

Buyer-selected options, artwork changes, bulk gifts and catalog minimum quantities are handled on the website. A personal message is printed on a card; chat does not merge recipient names onto product artwork.

My message never arrived. Was I charged?

Message delivery is separate from gift payment, so a delivery failure does not mean payment failed. Check the gift or approval in Printonic under Chat requests before submitting another request.

Can we disconnect Slack?

Yes. A team owner disconnects the workspace from the same card under Integrations. Link codes and personal links stop working with it, and the workspace can be connected again later.
