Products & Listings
Put one design on many products with Design Drop
Upload one design or several, tick the products you want, and Printonic builds a listing for each design on each product with mockups, prices, a title, a description and tags. You review them, then publish them together.
Design Drop turns your designs into many listings. You upload a design once, or up to 10 designs in one drop. Printonic shows every product they fit, you tick the ones you want, and each listing is built for you: the design is placed on the product, mockups are rendered, prices are set, and the title, description and tags are written.
Nothing is published until you say so. You review every listing on one page, remove or edit any of them, then publish them all with one button.

Dashboard > Products > Design Drop
Open Design Drop
In the left menu, open Products and click Design Drop. The page is headed Design Drop, with an upload box on the left and the product list on the right. Your earlier drops are listed at the bottom under Your design drops.
You need a connected store. If none is connected, the page shows 'Connect a store first, then come back to drop a design.' with a Connect a store link. You can also start from an idea on your dashboard home: under Ideas for your shop, click 'Drop a design on several products'. The idea's search keywords then go into every listing. - 2
Design Drop > Upload your designs
Upload your designs
Click Upload your designs and pick a PNG or JPG file. A PNG with a transparent background works best. For shirts, use a design at least 3000 px wide. When the upload finishes, the page shows your design's size in pixels. To use more than one design, pick several files at once, or click Add another design. You can have up to 10 designs in one drop. Each design shows as a small picture with its own progress spinner.
Each file must be under 50 MB and under 12000 px on each side. To take a design out, click the X on its picture. If a design can't be read, the reason shows under the pictures, and that design is left out of the drop. - 3
Design Drop > product list
See which products fit
The list shows how many products can take your design. With several designs, it shows every product that at least one of them fits, and each card says how many designs it fits, for example Fits 3 of 4 designs. With one design, each product card has a fit badge. Great fit means the design's shape matches the print area. Good fit means there is some empty space around the design. Prints small means the shapes are different, so the design ends up small on the product. A Low resolution badge means the design is small for that print area and may print blurry.
Only products with one clear print area are offered. Products that need a separate design for each area, like most gift sets, are not in the list. Use the normal product setup for those. - 4
Design Drop > product cards
Pick your products
Click a card to tick or untick it. The best matches are ticked for you. Products marked Prints small or Low resolution, engraved products and products made for names start unticked, and the card says why. The counter shows how many you picked, up to 30 per drop. With several designs, you pick the products once for all of them: every design goes on every picked product it fits.
If your design contains product words (for example the name of one product type), the page warns you that this text only fits some products and leaves the others unticked. With one design, tick them only if you edit that line out of your design. With several designs, a design with such words is left off the products that don't match them. - 5
Design Drop > Store > Your profit on each item > Create listings
Choose the store, set your profit, and create the listings
If you have more than one connected store, pick one in the Store menu. With one store, the page shows where the listings go. Under Your profit on each item, choose % of my cost (it starts at 50%) or $ per item, and type the amount. The example below it shows what an item that costs you $10 would list at, and what you keep after fees. Then click the Create button. It shows the number of listings the drop makes, for example Create 8 listings. With several designs, that is each design on each picked product it fits. A drop can make up to 100 listings; above that, the button is off and the page says how many it would make. The review page for this drop opens.
The profit you pick is after marketplace fees and applies to every listing in this drop. If you turned on Auto-Mode defaults for that store, its tags and Etsy shipping settings are used too. - 6
Design Drop > your drop
Watch the listings build
Each listing shows a status badge as it moves along: Waiting, Placing your design, Rendering mockups, Writing the listing, then Ready. You can leave the page while they build. You get a notification when they are ready to review.
Your design is placed whole. Empty margins around it are trimmed, it keeps its proportions and it sits centered with a small margin from the edges. It is never stretched or cropped. On products marked Fills print area, a design with a plain background has that background extended edge to edge instead of leaving empty bands. - 7
Design Drop > your drop > listing cards
Review each listing
Each card shows the mockup, the product, the title and the price (or price range). A drop with several designs groups the cards by design, under a header like Design 2 of 4 · 6 listings. Amber notes are warnings worth a look, for example when mockups did not render and the catalog photo is used. Click Edit to open the listing and change the title, description, tags, price, colors or sizes. Click Remove to take a product out of the drop.
Remove archives that unpublished draft. It is not available once a listing is publishing or published. Each listing starts with the product's default colors and sizes, or every available option when there are no defaults. - 8
Design Drop > your drop > Publish listings
Publish the drop
When listings are Ready, click the Publish button (it shows the number, for example Publish 8 listings). Every Ready listing is published.
Etsy: listings go to Etsy as drafts and publish on our side, so you can leave the page. Shopify, WooCommerce and TikTok Shop: listings publish from the page one at a time, and the button shows the progress. Keep the page open until it finishes. - 9
Your Etsy shop
On Etsy, press Publish on each draft
Etsy listings arrive as drafts. You get a notification when they are on Etsy. Open each draft in Etsy and press Publish to start selling.
Etsy charges its listing fee when you press Publish on Etsy.
Good to know
- Use a transparent PNG for the widest choice of products. A plain background also works, and on products marked Fills print area it is extended edge to edge.
- Read the note on each product card before you tick it. It tells you about engraving, empty space or a low-resolution design.
- Set your Auto-Mode defaults for the store first if you want your own tags and Etsy shipping settings on every listing.
- Keep design text generic. Words that name one product type make the design fit fewer products.
Common questions
Will it publish to Etsy right away?
No. Nothing publishes until you click Publish on the review page. Then the listings go to Etsy as drafts, and you press Publish on each draft in Etsy to start selling.
Which stores can I publish to?
Any connected Etsy, Shopify, WooCommerce or TikTok Shop store. Each drop goes to one store. Etsy listings publish on our side as drafts. Shopify, WooCommerce and TikTok Shop listings publish from the review page one at a time, so keep the page open.
Is Design Drop a Pro feature?
No. Design Drop is in the Products menu for every seller. If you have Pro, your Pro product discount is part of the cost your starting prices are built on.
Can I change the price?
Yes. Before you create the drop, set Your profit on each item: a percent of your cost (50% to start) or a dollar amount per item, after marketplace fees. After that, click Edit on any listing card to change its price before you publish.
What if a product fails?
The card shows a Failed badge with the reason in red. If the card has an Edit button, open the listing to fix the problem and publish it from the listing page. Or click Remove to take it out of the drop. The other listings in the drop are not affected.
What if publishing fails for a listing?
The reason shows on that listing's card and the listing stays Ready. Fix the problem (click Edit to open the listing), then click Publish again.
What do the amber warnings mean?
They are notes, not errors. The listing can still be published. Common ones: the mockups did not render, so the catalog photo is used, or the title and description could not be written, so you should open the listing and write them.
Can I leave the page while it works?
Yes, while the listings build, and while Etsy listings publish. You get a notification when the listings are ready and when the Etsy drafts are there. For Shopify, WooCommerce and TikTok Shop, keep the page open while publishing.
How many products can I pick?
Up to 30 products per drop. For more, start another drop with the same design.
Can I upload more than one design?
Yes. A drop takes up to 10 designs and makes up to 100 listings. You pick the products once for all the designs, and every design goes on every picked product it fits. A design skips any product it doesn't fit. It also skips products that don't match its own words: a design that says Best Mom Mug is not put on a shirt. The Create button shows the real number of listings before you start.
